Comparison of English and Russian idioms with a word “eye“

Abstract:

In the diploma thesis, with a title - Comparison of English and Russian idioms with a word “eye“, we deal with the question of Russian phraseology in general terms in its theoretical part. We define characteristics of basic terms, introduce gathered data in spheres of Russian stylistics, semantics, formation and origin of Russian idioms. Theoretical part is concluded by an issue of classification of Russian and English idioms. In the practical part there are analyzed Russian idioms, which in their meaning correspond to given English idioms with a the word “eye“. We study similarity or differences of English and Russian forms of idioms and consequently indicate sort of their translation (thus, equivalent, analogue, paraphrase, antonym or calque) and we also examine the presence of the word “eye“ in Russian idioms. All is demonstrated and summarized graphically at the end of the thesis.

Abstract:

V diplomové práci, s názvem - Srovnání anglických a ruských frazeologizmů se slovem „oko“, se v její teoretické části zabýváme otázkou ruské frazeologie obecně. Vymezujeme charakteristiku základních pojmů, uvádíme shromážděné informace v oblastech ruské stylistiky, sémantiky, vzniku a původu ruských frazeologizmů. Teoretická část je završena problematikou klasifikace ruských i anglických frazeologizmů. V praktické části jsou analyzovány ruské frazeologizmy, které svým významem odpovídají daným anglickým frazeologizmům se slovem „oko“. Studujeme shody či rozdíly formy anglických a ruských frazeologizmů a následně uvádíme typ jejich překladu (tedy, ekvivalent, analog, opis, antonym nebo kalk) a také prověřujeme výskyt slova „oko“ v ruských frazeologizmech. Vše je v závěru práce vyjádřeno a shrnuto graficky.
