Taxation of motor vehicles in the European Union

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá zdaněním provozu motorových vozidel v Evropské unii. Zdanění motorových vozidel má nejen fiskální důvody, ale v dnešní době vstupují do popředí především jeho ekologické aspekty, proto je třeba jej vnímat jako ekonomicko-environmentální nástroj. V závislosti na neustále se zvyšujících hodnotách CO2 v atmosféře byly vyspělé státy nuceny přijmout opatření k potlačení tohoto trendu. Jednou z možností v boji proti emisím CO2 je i vhodné nastavení daňového základu při zdaňování motorových vozidel. Hlavní zaměření této práce je na zdanění osobních vozidel na bázi vypouštěných emisí a na harmonizaci této oblasti v rámci Evropské unie. Výsledným zjištěním této práce je, že na území Evropské unie není zdanění osobních vozidel dostatečně harmonizováno, což může nabourávat principy vnitřního trhu a podkopávat snažení ve snižování emisí CO2.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the taxation of motor vehicles in the European Union. The taxation of motor vehicles has not only fiscal reasons, but nowadays come into the forefront especially its environmental aspects. Therefore it should be seen as an economic and environmental tool. Due to the increasing levels of CO2 in the atmosphere were forced developed countries to curb this trend. One possibility of the fight against CO2 emissions is also suitable setting of the tax base for taxing motor vehicles. The main aim of this bachelor thesis is the car taxation based on emissions and harmonization this sector in the European Union. The finding of this thesis is that in the European Union is not taxing of passengers cars harmonized enough, which can harm the principles of the internal market and undermine making efforts to reducing CO2 emissions.T
