FUNCTIONALITY OF ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURES OF THE EUROPEAN OLYMPIC COMMITTEES

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá vnímáním efektivity organizační struktury evropských národních olympijských výborů z pohledu jejich zaměstnanců. Cílem této práce je charakterizovat organizační struktury vybraných evropských olympijských výborů, provést jejich srovnání a na základě provedeného kvantitativního výzkumu vytvořit soubor doporučení (best practices), které dále umožňují rozvoj organizační kultury a lepší efektivitu jejich práce. Pro získání best practices se autor inspiroval modelem – Čtyři modely organizační efektivnosti, kterým se autor inspiroval u Australského olympijského výboru. Bylo osloveno 10 evropských národních olympijských výborů, které hodnotili čtyři směry efektivnosti jejich organizace: lidé vs organizace, flexibilita vs dozor. Zjištění této diplomové práce jasně prokázala, že evropské národní olympijské výbory si jsou podobné svou strukturou a také poskytla seznam best practices pro budoucí využití. S ohledem na nedostatečné číslo zúčastněných v průzkumu, autorka této práce nemohla vytvořit zobecnění výsledků. Je třeba provést změny pro budoucí výzkum, které pomůžou získat potřebná data.

Abstract:

The presented master thesis deals with the perception of the effectiveness of the organizational structure of the European National Olympic Committees from their employees’ perspective. The aim of this thesis is to characterize the organizational structures of selected European Olympic Committees and compare them. Then, analyze data of quantitative research and create a set of recommendations (best practices), which would enable further development of organizational culture and improve work efficiency. To obtain best practices, the author was inspired by a model - Four models of organizational efficiency, which is used by the Australian Olympic Committee to measure their own efficiency. 10 European National Olympic Committees were approached, which evaluated four directions of the effectiveness of their organization: people vs organization, flexibility vs supervision. The findings of this thesis clearly demonstrated that the European National Olympic Committees are similar in structure and also provided a list of best practices for future use. Due to the insufficient number of participants in the survey, the author of this work could not create a generalization of the results. Changes need to be made for future research to help obtain the necessary data.
