Infectious mononucleosis in the Pardubice region in the period of 2008-2017

Abstract:

Infekční mononukleóza je nakažlivá nemoc, která se vyskytuje zejména u mladých dospělých ve věku 15-20 let, naopak u lidí nad 40 let se prakticky neobjevuje. Virus Epsteina-Barrové (EBV) je nejčastějším původcem tohoto onemocnění, patřící do skupiny herpetických virů, které jsou rozšířeny téměř po celé planetě a jejich charakteristická schopnost je reaktivace. Toto onemocnění mohou způsobovat i další původci, například cytomegalovirus, avšak EBV patří mezi nejčastější původce. Cílem této bakalářské práce s názvem "Infekční mononukleóza v Pardubickém kraji v letech 2008-2017" je shromáždit teoretické poznatky ohledně příslušné nemoci. V praktické části je cílem analyzovat a shromažďovat data získaná z informačního systému Krajské hygienické stanice (KHS) Pardubického kraje (PK). Poskytnuté údaje jsou porovnávány na základě různých aspektů, např. dle absolutního počtu případů, incidence v jednotlivých okresech PK a v porovnání s ČR, četnost nakažených dle pohlaví, věku, místa izolace a sezónnosti. Celostátní výskyt infekční mononukleózy byl převzat z webových stránek Státního zdravotního ústavu (SZÚ) a poté srovnán s PK. Díky praktické části byly ověřovány teoretické poznatky o infekční mononukleóze. V letech 2008-2017 bylo zaznamenáno v České republice 20 563 hlášených případů a z toho 891 v Pardubickém kraji. Zastoupení pohlaví bylo téměř srovnatelné. I když 53 %, to je 473 hlášených případů, nakonec tvořila mužská část populace. Ověřila se také skutečnost z teoretické části, že toto infekční onemocnění dominuje nejčastěji ve věku 15-20 let. Tato věková skupina tvořila 47 % všech nemocných. Dále se nepotvrdilo tvrzení, že by infekční mononukleóza mohla vykazovat sezónnost v období zima-jaro. Na základě zpracovaných dat se zjistilo, že dokonce v období zima-jaro byl jeden z nejnižších výskytů infekční mononukleózy. V praktické části se také počty hlášených případů rozdělují podle místa izolace, souvislosti se vznikem nemoci nebo podle okresů Pardubického kraje.

Abstract:

Infectious mononucleosis is an infectious disease that most often occurs in young adults aged 15-20 years, while it is practically non-existent in people over 40 years of age. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the most common cause of this disease, belonging to a group of herpes viruses that are widespread almost all over the planet and their characteristic ability is reactivation. This disease can also be caused by other agents, such as cytomegalovirus, but EBV is one of the most common agents. The aim of this bachelor thesis entitled "Infectious mononucleosis in the Pardubice region in the years 2008-2017" is to gather theoretical knowledge about the disease. In the practical part, the aim is to analyze and collect data obtained from the information system Regional Hygiene Stations (KHS) of the Pardubice Region (PK). The provided data are compared on the basis of various aspects, eg according to the absolute number of cases, incidence in individual districts of PK and in comparison with the Czech Republic, frequency of infected according to sex, age, place of isolation and seasonality. The nationwide incidence of infectious mononucleosis was taken from the website of the State Institute of Public Health (SZÚ) and then compared with PK. Due to the practical part, theoretical knowledge about infectious mononucleosis was verified. In the period of 2008-2017, 20,563 reported cases were recorded in the Czech Republic and and of which 891 in the Pardubice Region. Gender representation was almost comparable. Although 53%, it is 473 reported cases, eventually formed a male part of the population. The fact that this infectious disease predominates most often at the age of 15-20 years was also verified. This age group accounted for 47 % of all patients. Furthermore, the claim that infectious mononucleosis could show winter-spring seasonality has not been confirmed. Based on the processed data, it was found that even in the winter-spring period was one of the lowest incidence of infectious mononucleosis. In the practical part, the numbers of reported cases are also divided according to the place of isolation, the connection with the origin of the disease or according to the districts of the Pardubice Region.
