Rehabilitation of women with stroke: assessment of disability

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce bylo zjistit, zda stanovená rehabilitační léčba u pacientek po cévní mozkové příhodě hospitalizovaných na Doléčovacím a rehabilitačním oddělení FN u sv. Anny v Brně vedla ke zlepšení disability. Pacientky byly před zahájením komplexní rehabilitace a po jejím ukončení testovány pomocí FIM testu (Functional Independence Measure). Statistická hodnocení této diplomové práce ukázala, že komplexní rehabilitační léčba vede k významnému zlepšení funkčních schopností a disability. Došlo ke zlepšení v provádění každodenních činností, které jsou hodnoceny jednotlivými položkami FIM testu. Dále bylo v této práci prokázáno, že u vybraného souboru pacientek je statisticky významný vztah mezi mírou vstupní funkční nezávislosti a délkou hospitalizace. Vztah mezi účinností rehabilitace a věkem pacientek byl vyhodnocen jako statisticky nevýznamný. Prokázána byla i vysoce pozitivní korelace mezi vstupním kognitivním skóre FIM testu a výstupním motorickým skóre FIM testu.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to determine, whether a rehabilitation treatment in patients after a stroke hospitalized at DRO at the Hospital of St. Anna of Faculty of Medicine in Brno resulted in improvement of disability. Patients were tested by FIM before the start of the comprehensive rehabilitation and after the end of comprehensive rehabilitation. Statistical evaluations in this thesis showed that comprehensive rehabilitation therapy lead to a significant improvement in functional abilities and disability. Patients improved in activities of daily living, which are evaluated by items of FIM test. In this thesis was also demonstrated, that in selected group of patients is statistically significant relationship between the level of functional independence at admission and the length of hospitalization. Relationship between effectiveness of rehabilitation and the age of the patients was evaluated as statistically insignificant. Demonstrated was also a high positive correlation between the cognitive scores of FIM test at admission and the motor scores of FIM test at discharge.
