Analysis of production indicators of the main oil palm producers in Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia

Abstract:

S problematikou produkce palmového oleje jsou spojováni především jeho největší světoví výrobci Indonésie a Malajsie. Pěstování palmy olejné a výroba palmového oleje se však významně rozvíjí i v dalších zemích. Teoretická část diplomové práce se zabývá popisem problematiky pěstování palmy olejné a výroby palmového oleje a charakteristikou hlavních regionů jejich produkce. Cílem praktické části je provedení analýzy vybraných indikátorů produkce hlavních producentů palmy olejné v Africe, Latinské Americe a jihovýchodní Asii. Metodami k dosažení cíle jsou shluková analýza a metoda hlavních komponent. Výsledkem je rozdělení států do skupin (klastrů) podle jejich vzájemné podobnosti ve vybraných indikátorech. Práce poskytuje přehled o problematice produkce palmového oleje v Africe, Latinské Americe a jihovýchodní Asii a její výstupy lze využít jako podklad pro další analýzy.

Abstract:

Palm oil production is associated primarily with its world's largest producers Indonesia and Malaysia. Growing oil palm and the palm oil production, however, has grown significantly in other countries. The theoretical part of diploma thesis deals with the description of oil palm growing and palm oil production and the characteristics of the main regions of their production. The aim of the practical part is to analyze the selected production indicators of the main producers of oil palm in Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. The methods to achieve the goal are cluster analysis and the principal component analysis. The result is the division of states into clusters according to their mutual similarity in selected indicators. The thesis provides an overview of the palm oil production in Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia, and its outputs can be used as a basis for further analysis.
