Comparison of motifs and themes in selected prosaic literary works of german and czech expressionism.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with literary expressionism with a focus on prose. In the first theoretical part are focused the basic prerequisites for the evolution of expressionism in Europe - social and cultural situation. The results of this research are an important precondition for understanding the philosophy of artistic modernism, which developed intensively from the last third of the 19th century until the early 1930s. The main text will be devoted to the basic outline of the genesis of German and Czech literary expressionism. Selected chapters from literary analysis will be also presented at the end of the theoretical part. This literary analysis is important for the analytical (practical) part of the thesis. In the second part, analytical, the thesis deals with the analysis of selected prosaic texts of German and Czech expressionism. We present a detailed content (plot) of each literary work, a brief analysis of selected noticeable elements of the text and a detailed overview of important motifs. The objective of this work is to compare German and Czech approach to the creation of expressionist prose from the point of view of thematic construction of the story.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá literárním expresionismem se zacílením na prózu. V první teoretické části budou zkoumány základní předpoklady pro vznik expresionismu v Evropě – společenská a kulturní situace. Výsledky tohoto zkoumání jsou důležitým předpokladem pro pochopení filozofie umělecké moderny, která se intenzivně rozvíjela od poslední třetiny 19. století až do přiblžně 30. let 20. století. Hlavní text bude věnován základnímu nástinu geneze německého a českého literárního expresionismu. Na konci teoretické části budou uvedeny vybrané kapitoly z literární analýzy. Tato analýza je důležitá pro analytickou (praktickou) část práce. Ve druhé časti práce, analytické, se práce zabývá analýzou vybraných prosaických textů německého a českého expresionismu. Uvádíme podrobný obsah každého literárního díla (plot), stručnou analýzu vybraných nápadných prvků textu a podrobný přehled důležitých motivů. Cílem práce je porovnat německý a český přístup ke tvorbě expresionistické prózy z hledika tématické výstavby příběhu.
