Translation of Selected Text from the Field of Social Sciences with a Commentary and Glossary from English into Czech

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na překlad vybraného textu ze společenskovědního oboru, konkrétně historické reálie o Jindřichovi VIII., britském panovníkovi. Hlavním cílem této práce je vytvořit srozumitelný překlad s ohledem na povahu populárně-naučného stylu a stejně tak teoretické a praktické aspekty překládání, které jsou popsány v teoretické části. Praktická část zahrnuje překlad, komentář překladu (makropřístup a mikropřístup) a glosář, sestavený na základě výrazů, vyskytujících se ve výchozím textu a prezentovaných v práci. Na závěr je k práci přiložen originální text.

Abstract:

The focus of this Bachelor thesis deals with the translation of a selected text from the field of social sciences, namely historical realia about Henry VIII, the British monarch. The main aim of the thesis is to provide a clearly understandable translation of the text with regards to the characteristic features of the popular scientific style with respect to the theoretical as well as the practical aspects of the translation, which are described in the theoretical part. The practical part concludes the translation, the commentary to the translation (the macro and the micro approach) and a glossary, compiled on the basis of the expressions found in the source text and presented in the thesis. In the appendix, the original source text was provided.
