Abstract:

This thesis is a personal reflection on the work that I made over the period of mystudies at DAMU September 2017 – January 2019. It focuses on four works createdby its author over four semesters. The Potato Piece, Eulogy, Before The Ceremonyand The Ceremony. These works have been created in response to the question ofhow it might be possible to use the artist’s personal experience to createperformance that engages in an experiential and intimate way with its audience.It tracks the author’s theatre-making practice over these four works as it developsfrom staging simple compositions with objects to exploring new forms ofparticipatory performance that seek to find new intimacy and cross borders in theaudience-performer relationship.Through a detailed description and reflection of The Potato Piece, Eulogy, BeforeThe Ceremony and The Ceremony this thesis invites the reader to enter into theworld of that process and to reflect on how each of these projects act as a steppingstone toward a more expanded practice of ‘directing’. The final chapters of thethesis look at how this work with objects (relating to things) can translate into away of approaching working with personal material (relating to the self) andcreating experience as performance by crossing the border of theaudience/performer relationship (relating to others).

Tento text je osobním zhodnocením prací, které jsem vytvořil v rámci svého studiana DAMU od září 2017 do ledna 2019. Zaměřuje se na čtyři autorské inscenace,které vznikly ve čtyřech semestrech: The Potato Piece (Bramborové dílo), Eulogy(Velebení), Before The Ceremony (Před obřadem) a The Ceremony (Obřad). Vzniktěchto děl motivovala otázka, jak na základě osobní zkušenosti autora vytvořitinscenaci, která by s publikem navázala spojení pomocí intimního prožitku. Textzachycuje vývoj autorovy divadelní praxe skrze tyto čtyři příklady od inscenováníjednoduchých kompozic objektů ke zkoumání nových forem participativníhoumění, které se snaží nalézt novou tvář intimity a překračovat hranice ve vztahupublikum – performer.Pomocí detailního popisu a rozboru inscenací The Potato Piece (Bramborové dílo),Eulogy (Velebení), Before The Ceremony (Před obřadem) a The Ceremony (Obřad)zve tato diplomová práce čtenáře, aby tento proces zakusil a aby zhodnotil, jakjednotlivé kusy slouží jako stupně na cestě ke stále širšímu pojetí ‚režijní praxe‛.Poslední kapitoly tohoto textu reflektují, jak se práce s objekty (vztah k věcem)může překlenout ve způsob přístupu k práci s osobním materiálem (vztah k sobě)a ve způsob tvorby zážitku jakožto inscenace skrze překročení hranice vztahupublikum – performer (vztah k ostatním).
