The aim of this thesis is to introduce the literary work of Flemish artist Lies van Gasse, in particular her works that combine literature and visual arts into one art form. The theoretical part consists of a discussion of the terms intertextuality and intermediality. This part also includes a description of the relations between graphic poems, comics and graphic novels.
