Impact of the textile industry on environmental components

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá dopady textilního průmyslu na složky životního prostředí. Práce je koncipovaná jako rešerše základních negativních důsledků tohoto průmyslu. V práci jsou vysvětleny základní pojmy jako fast fashion či textilní průmysl. Práce obsahuje negativní dopady přírodních i umělých vláken, jednotlivých fází výroby textilu, včetně fáze po ukončení životního cyklu produktu. Z práce vyplývá, že textilní průmysl patří mezi největší znečišťovatele životního prostředí, a to zejména prostřednictvím odpadních vod obsahujících toxické chemické látky. Případ odpadních vod je detailněji zpracován na případu Bangladéše. V závěru práce jsou představeny možnosti, jak mohou být negativní dopady v budoucnosti zmírněny a rovněž jsou představeny udržitelné metody a materiály, které se používají již v současnosti.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the impacts of the textile industry on environmental components. The thesis is conceived as a research of the basic negative consequences of this industry. The thesis explains the basic concepts like fast fashion or textile industry. The work includes the negative impacts of natural and man-made fibres, the different stages of textile production, including the post-life cycle phase of the product. The thesis shows that the textile industry is one of the biggest polluters of the environment, especially through wastewater containing toxic chemicals. The case of wastewater is elaborated in detail using the case of Bangladesh. The thesis concludes by presenting ways in which the negative impacts can be mitigated in the future and also presents sustainable methods and materials that are already in use.
