The quality of life of patients treated with radiotherapy for advanced tumors in the head and neck region

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zmapovat kvalitu života pacientů léčených radioterapií pro nádory v ORL oblasti, a to na začátku, v průběhu a na konci léčby. Součástí této bakalářské práce je také znázornění nejvýraznější změn v celkovém stavu pacientů souvisejících s léčbou. Metodou průzkumu bylo zvoleno dotazníkové šetření. Výzkumný soubor se skládal ze 120 respondentů na Klinice onkologické v Ostravě. Vzorek šetření tvořilo 12,5 % žen a 82,5 % mužů, průměrný věk byl v rozmezí od 47-57let. Tento sběr dat se konal v období měsíců říjen 2013 - březen 2014. Data byla zpracována prostřednictvím Scoring the EORTC QLQ ? C 30 version 3.0 a Head & Neck cancer module: QLQ - H&N35. Průzkum se týkal hodnocení celkového zdravotního stavu, funkční škály (fyzikální role, zvládání denních činností, emoční, kognitivní a sociální oblast) a dále jednotlivých symptomů onemocnění. Většina respondentů se shodla, že k nejvýraznějšímu zhoršení došlo v oblasti bolesti, nechutenství, polykacích potíží a zácpy. Šetřením bylo zjištěno, že kvalita života se od zahájení léčby postupně zhoršovala ve všech oblastech života.

Abstract:

The target of this work was to chart the quality of life of the patients these took part in treatment through the radiotherapy from the cause of tumors in the area of ORL, namely in the beginning of the treatment, during the treatment and in the end of treatment. The depiction of the most well-marked changes in the general status of patients that depend with the treatment is a part of this bachelor work. The questionaire survey was chosen as the method of this research. The group of research was created from 120 respondents at the Clinic of Oncology in the University Hospital Ostrava. The sample of research created 12,5% of women and 82,5% of men, the average age was in range from 47 years to 57 years. The data collection did go from November 2014 to March 2014. The data were processed by way of Scoring the EORTC QLQ ? C 30 version 3.0 a Head & Neck cancer module: QLQ - H&N35. The research concerned the evaluation of the total health state, the quality of life, the functional scala (physical function, managing of the daily activities, emotional, cognitive and social part of life) and than the individual symptoms of the disease. The most of patients came to an agreement about the most well-marked aggravation was in the field of pain, fatigue, absence of appetite, constipation, swallowing troubles and sexuality. Through this research was discovered that the quality of life deteriorated in all parts of life from the beginning of the treatment progressively.
