Cultural life in Žatec 1945-1948

Abstract:

Po válce se utlumená kultura znovu nadechuje k životu. V Žatci a celém pohraničí dochází k proměně společnosti. Němci jsou odsunuti a jejich domovy osidlují různí lidé z různých míst. K jejich sblížení má pomoci znovubudovaná kultura. Během období třetí republiky se pomalu obnoví všechny významné oblasti kultury. Žatečtí občané mohou opět usednout do hlediště a sledovat divadelní představení v podání jejich spoluobyvatelů. Znovu se rozsvítí stříbrné plátno kina Lučan a přinese tehdejší filmové vrcholy. Žatecké sály se zaplňují hudbou a tancem. Muzeum slavnostně otevírá a přibližuje novým žateckým občanům historii jejich domova. Městem procházejí průvody oslavující významné události. Volyňští Češi pomalu přijíždějí a začleňují se do žateckého prostředí i díky kulturnímu životu. Sledujeme, jak žatečtí občané znovu objevují krásy kultury a umělecké tvorby. Překládaná bakalářská práce zpracovává téma obnovy kulturního života v Žatci za třetí republiky. K co nejširšímu vhledu do problematiky zohledňuje a zkoumá nejpodstatnější elementy mající dopad na nově se tvořící žateckou kulturu. Práce se pokouší na základě těchto vlivů dosáhnout hlavního cíle, kterým je vykreslení obrazu kulturního života v Žatci během období třetí republiky. K dosažení hlavního cíle využívá metodu komparace literatury, textů otištěných v dobovém tisku a jejich intepretaci. Práce se nechce držet pouze na povrchu problematiky, ale pokouší se proniknout do hloubky a nahlédnout detailněji do znovubudované žatecké kultury, který i pro naši současnost může přinést zajímavá témata k zamyšlení

Abstract:

After the war, the subdued culture came to life again. Society is changing in Žatec and on the whole borderland. The Germans are displaced and their homes are inhabited by different people from different places. A rebuilt culture should help bring them closer together. During the period of the Third Republic, all important areas of culture will slowly recover. Citizens of Žatec can once again sit in the auditorium and watch a theatrical performance by their fellow citizens. The silver screen of the Lučan cinema will light up again and bring the film peaks of that time. The halls of Žatec are filled with music and dance. The museum ceremoniously opens and introduces the history of Žatec to its new citizens. Parades celebrating important events are passing through the city. Volhynian Czechs are slowly arriving and integrating into the Žatec environment thanks to the cultural life. We watch how the citizens of Žatec rediscover the beauties of culture and artistic creation. This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of renewal of cultural life in Žatec during the Third Republic. In order to have the widest possible insight into the issue, it takes into account and examines the most important elements having an impact on the newly formed culture of Žatec. Based on these influences, the thesis tries to achieve the main goal, which is to paint a picture of cultural life in Žatec during the period of the Third Republic. To achieve the main goal, it uses the method of comparing literature, texts printed in periodicals and analysis of sources and their interpretation. The thesis does not want to stick only to the surface of the issue, but it tries to penetrate in depth and look in more detail at the rebuilt culture of Žatec, which can also bring interesting topics to think about for our present.
