Establisment of non-state social facility - a nursing home for seniors of Vietnamese nationality in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Úvod: Ve své práci jsem se zabývala péčí o seniory v České republice a ve Vietnamu. Porovnávala jsem jejich systémy, zda jsou si podobné a zda jsou kulturně stejné preference v péči o seniory. Také jsem vysvětlila důležité kulturní hodnoty a zvyklosti ve Vietnamu, které velice ovlivňují jejich život. Cíl práce: Popsat potřeby vietnamské komunity spojení s péčí o seniory. Metodika: Využila jsem kvalitativní výzkum s metodou polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Výzkumný soubor tvořili dvě skupiny. První skupina zahrnovala druhogenerační Vietnamce a druhou skupinou byli jejich rodiče. Výsledky: Z výsledků jsem zjistila tři důležité body, které je zapotřebí zmínit, a to, že při managementu zařízení je potřeba dbát na zapojení rodinných příslušníků, dbát na soukromí a přizpůsobit stravu. Závěr: Diplomová práce ukazuje na velké kulturní rozdíly v rámci životního stylu i péče o rodinu. Je proto důležité, aby při výstavbě zařízení zaměřené na péči o vietnamské seniory byly respektovány kulturní rozdíly.

Abstract:

Introduction: In my thesis I have been dealing with the care of the elderly in the Czech Republic and Vietnam. I compared their systems to see if they are similar and if there are culturally the same preferences in elderly care. I also explained the important cultural values and practices in Vietnam that greatly influence their lives. Aim of the thesis: To describe the needs of the Vietnamese community related to elderly care. Methodology: I used qualitative research with semi-structured interview method. The research population consisted of two groups. The first group included second-generation Vietnamese and the second group was their parents. Results: From the results, I found three important points that need to be mentioned, which are that the management of the facility needs to pay attention to the involvement of family members, pay attention to privacy, and adapt the diet. Conclusion: The thesis shows great cultural differences in lifestyle and family care. Therefore, it is important that cultural differences are respected in the construction of a facility aimed at caring for Vietnamese elderly.
