The historical Jesus of Nazareth

Abstract:

Ve své diplomové práci jsem se pokusila o souhrn možných odpovědí na tázání o historickém Ježíši z Nazareta. Součástí práce je přehled dějin kritického bádání o Ježíšově životě od konce 18. století dodnes. Cílem mé práce je představit historického Ježíše zasazeného do politického, náboženského a kulturního rámce Palestiny své doby. V diplomové práci se snažím objasnit některá konkrétní tradicí utvořená zobecnění a upozorňovat na množství hypotéz, ve kterých se při hledání historického Ježíše pohybujeme častěji, než bychom si přáli. Svou pozornost zaměřuji například na charakteristiku pramenů, relativní chronologii dat z Ježíšova života, Ježíšův vztah k židovskému zákonu, Ježíšovo sebepochopení, nábožensko-politické spektrum Ježíšovy doby nebo na otázku kontinuity mezi Ježíšem a Janem Křtitelem. Závěrečná kapitola je věnována okolnostem vzniku a šíření křesťanské víry, která se v průběhu prvního století rozšířila z Palestiny téměř do celé Římské říše.

Abstract:

In my thesis, I tried to summarize possible answers to questioning about Jesus from Nazareth. The survey of critical research on his life from 18th century up to the present day is also a part of this thesis. The aim of my diploma paper is to present historic Jesus set into political, religious and cultural framework of Palestine in that time. I seek to clarify some generalizations caused by tradition and point out to a large number of hypotheses that we are often influenced by. I focus on the characteristics of sources, relative date chronology related to the life of Jesus, his relationship to Jewish law, religious and political context of that time and the problem of continuity between Jesus and John the Baptist. The last chapter is devoted to the rise and spread of Christian faith that expanded (in the course of the first century) from Palestine to the whole Roman Empire.
