Calorimetry: From beginning to present time

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá kalorimetrií, historií této metody a různými typy kalorimetrických měření a zařízení. Nejprve je v úvodní kapitole popisována kalorimetrie obecně, její využití v různých vědeckých oborech a průmyslu. Následuje sdělení o jednotkách, které se v kalorimetrii používají i o jednotkách dříve používaných, tedy kaloriích. Tuto kapitolu zakončují základní principy kalorimetrie a základní instrumentace, která je úzce spjata s měřením teploty a tedy s teploměry, jejichž dělením a typy se práce také zabývá. Druhá kapitola shrnuje historii kalorimetrie a její vývoj. Začíná historií tepla, jeho zkoumání a poznávání a také experimenty s jeho studiem spojenými. Plynule přechází k popisu vynálezů prvních kalorimetrů. Bakalářskou práci uzavírá poslední kapitola o různých typech kalorimetrů a kalorimetrických technik, které jsou řazené od klasických až po moderní.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with calorimetry, the history of this method, and different types of calorimetric measurements and devices. The first chapter generally describes calorimetry and its use in various scientific fields and industry. This is followed by a text about the units used in calorimetry as well as the units used in the past, i.e., the calories. This chapter is concluded with the basic principles of calorimetry and the basic instrumentation, which is closely related to the measurement of temperature and, therefore, to thermometers. Types and principles of thermometers are also summarized in the thesis. The second chapter summarizes the history of calorimetry and its development. It begins with the history of heat, its exploration and knowledge, and the experiments associated with its study. A description of the inventions of the first calorimeters i also included. The bachelor thesis concludes with a final chapter dealing with different types of calorimeters and calorimetric techniques arranged from classical to modern methods.
