Ethnic tourism as a tool of promotion of Australian Aboriginal culture and improving of their life conditions

Abstract:

Má bakalářská práce se zabývá etnickým turismem jako dlouhodobě se rozvíjejícím odvětvím cestovního ruchu. Na příkladech původních obyvatel Austrálie zdůrazňuji funkci tohoto druhu turismu v širší znalosti o kultuře a jeho roli jako nástroje pro zlepšení životních podmínek domorodých obyvatel. Pro práci jsem si vybral dvě organizace, jednu vládní a druhou neziskovou, jež vytváří příležitosti v turismu a podporují domorodce, kteří chtějí pomocí etnického cestovního ruchu předávat povědomí o jejich kultuře turistům. Obě organizace vypracovaly plány, které mají za dané období zlepšit jak pracovní, tak životní podmínky původních obyvatel. Důležitým faktem je rozdílnost přístupu, jakým chtějí obě organizace pomoci. Bakalářská práce se skládá z 5 kapitol a jejich podkapitol. V první kapitole jsem přiblížil cíl a důvod, proč jsem si dané téma vybral. Ve druhé kapitole se již zaměřuji na definici etnického turismu, strukturu a náboženství domorodých kultur. Třetí kapitola obsahuje charakteristiku původních obyvatel od osídlení kontinentu až po dnešní život ve městech a odlehlých oblastech. Čtvrtá kapitola popisuje zapojení původních obyvatel do cestovního ruchu ve dvou rozdílných organizacích. V poslední kapitole přibližuji a porovnávám akční plán vládní organizace Voyages se strategickým plánem neziskové organizace WAITOC s cílem nalézt nejvýhodnější způsob etnického turismu pro zlepšení životních podmínek.

Abstract:

My Bachelor´s thesis covers ethnic tourism as a long term developing branch of tourism. I emphasize the function of this type of tourism in a broader knowledge of the culture on the examples of Aborigines and its role as a tool for improvement of living conditions of Aborigines. I have chosen two organizations for my thesis, one which is governmental organization and the second on is a non-profit organization, both create opportunities for tourism and they support Aborigines, who want to raise awareness in tourists about their culture. Both organizations have prepared plans, which should improve work and the living conditions of Aborigines. An important fact is the difference in approach of both organizations as how they want to help. The Bachelor´s thesis consists of five chapters and their sub-chapters. I introduce the aim and the reason for choosing this topic in the first chapter. I focused on the definition of the ethnic tourism, the structure and religion of Aborigines in the second chapter. The third chapter contains the characteristics of Aborigines during the period between the time of settling to the present lidestyle in cities and remote areas. The fourth chapter desribes involvement of Aborigines in tourism for two different organizations. The last chapter desribes and evaluates the action plan of governmental organization Voyages in comparison to the strategic plan of non-profit organization WAITOC with the aim to find the most useful way of ethnic tourism for the improvement od living conditions.
