Invasion of Iraq 2003 (Causes, way of leadership and consequences)

Abstract:

20. března 2003 zahájily Spojené státy americké a jejich spojenci invazi do Iráku s cílem svrhnout irácký režim v čele se Saddámem Husajnem. Oficiálními důvody vojenské akce s krycím názvem operace Irácká svoboda bylo údajné irácké vlastnictví zbraní hromadného ničení, napojení iráckého režimu na terorismus a zločinné chování vůči vlastnímu obyvatelstvu. Po dosažení základních cílů byla operace 1. května 2003 formálně prohlášena za ukončenou. Nastalá situace v Iráku však byla spojenci zcela chybně odhadnuta a neočekávaně se překlenula do více jak sedmileté války, která si podle nejvyšších odhadů vyžádala půl druhého milionu obětí. Práce si klade za cíl lokalizovat skutečné i domnělé příčiny invaze, rekonstruovat způsob vedení hlavních válečných operací a poukázat na důsledky následné války. Jednotlivé kapitoly stručně popisují zlomové události irácké historie směřující v konečném důsledku až k námi zkoumané invazi, poté se detailně věnují samotné operaci Irácká svoboda, zejména její technické stránce, a v posledním bloku nastiňují složitou situaci v postinvazním Iráku. Které okolnosti vedly Saddáma Husajna k anexi Kuvajtu? Jakou roli hraje v zahraniční politice USA ropné bohatství? Slouží skutečně OSN k udržování mezinárodního míru a bezpečnosti? Dají se zločiny spáchané iráckým režimem vůbec srovnávat se zločiny pramenícími z několikaleté války vedené spojenci? Použila spojenecká vojska v Iráku zbraně hromadného ničení? Kdo se dostal k moci po pádu Saddáma Husajna? Proč se Irák po ?osvobození? zařadil na seznam rozpadajících se států světa? S těmito a mnoha dalšími otázkami je čtenář v práci konfrontován. Hlavním přínosem práce se tak stává možnost porovnat skutečnost s iluzí mnohdy panující v dnešní společnosti.

Abstract:

On the 20th March 2003, the United States and their allies launched an invasion into Iraq to overthrow the Iraqi regime headed by Saddam Hussein. The official reasons for military operation with code-name Operation Iraqi Freedom was putative possession of mass destructive weapons, connection of Iraqi regime to terrorism and criminal behaviour against own population. After achieving the fundamental objectives, the operation was formally declared over on the 1st May, 2003. But this particular situation has been wrongly assessed by allies and unexpectedly turned into the more than seven years war which has taken a half million of the victims according to the highest estimates. This piece of work aims to define the real and presumed reasons of the invasion, restore main leading methods of military operations and to highlight consequences of the subsequent war. Each chapter briefly describes the history of Iraq's breaking events pointing ultimately to the researched invasion then focus in details on the own Operation Iraqi Freedom especially its technical aspects and at the last block outline the complex situation in post-invasive Iraq. Which circumstances led to Saddam Hussein's annexation of Kuwait? What is the role of U.S. foreign policy in the crude oil wealth? Does the UNO actually maintain international peace and security? Are the committed crimes by Iraqi regime comparable with the crimes stemming from several years war led by the allies? Did the allied troops use the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? Who came to power after the fall of Saddam Hussein? Why was Iraq added to the list of decaying states of the world after the "liberation"? The reader is confronted by these and many other questions in this work. The main benefit of this work thus becomes an opportunity to compare reality with illusion often prevailing in today's society.
