The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Spanish Economy, Foreign Trade and Tourism

Abstract:

Objevení se nového viru způsobujícího onemocnění COVID-19 na konci roku 2019 se stalo hlavním determinantem globalizovaného prostředí, ve kterém žijeme. Každý stát a ekonomická odvětví byly pandemií a protiepidemickými opatřeními postiženy jinou intenzitou. Cílem této práce je vyhodnotit dopady pandemie COVID-19 na španělskou ekonomiku. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol, ve kterých je zkoumán makroekonomický vývoj, vývoj zahraničního obchodu a cestovního ruchu v letech 2015–2019 a následně v roce 2020. V práci se zajímám o to, jaké odvětví španělské ekonomiky bylo pandemií nejvíce zasaženo, jaký vliv měla pandemie na zahraniční obchod Španělska a zdali pandemie prohloubila již existující problémy španělské ekonomiky, či nikoliv. Práce využívá především metod analýzy vybraných makroekonomických ukazatelů, deskripce, komparace a syntézy.

Abstract:

The emergence of the new virus causing the illness called COVID-19 at the end of the year 2019, has become a major determinant of the globalized world we are living in. Every state and economic sector have been differently affected by pandemic and anti-epidemic measures. The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Spanish economy. The thesis is divided into 4 chapters, in which a development of the selected macroeconomic indicators is analysed, as well a development of the foreign trade and tourism in the years 2015–2019 and then in the year 2020. The researcher questions are stated as followed: which sector of the Spanish economy was the most affected by the pandemic, what effects did the pandemic have on Spain's foreign trade and whether or not the pandemic has exacerbated the current problems of the Spanish economy. Used methods in this thesis are analysis of the selected macroeconomic indicators, comparison, description and synthesis.
