Phenomenon of euroscepticism in the Czech Republic: development, motives, displays

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem Fenomén tzv. euroskeptismus v ČR: vývoj, motivy, projevy se zabývá negativním postojem vůči Evropské unii, tedy euroskepticismem. Nejprve specifikuje pojmy evropeizace, evropská (občanská) společnost a evropské hodnoty. Práce dále dává do kontextu euroskepticismus s populismem politických stran a zjišťuje, jak velký má populismus vliv na euroskepticismus. Zohledněna je taktéž migrační a koronavirová krize, na nichž práce ukazuje prohlubování euroskepticismu. Sledována je taktéž důvěra v instituce Evropské unie, zde jsou využívány data z Centra pro výzkum veřejného mínění. Rozebrán je taktéž stranický euroskepticismus u vybraných politických stran, které jsou v politickém spektru nejviditelnější. U politických stran jsou v diplomové práci probírány jejich volební programy do Poslanecké sněmovny Parlamentu ČR v roce 2021, a to v kontextu vnímání Evropské unie. Cílem práce je pomocí rešerší textů zjistit, které politické strany jsou euroskeptické. Dále práce poukazuje na fakt, že tyto strany využívají ve své propagaci populismus, který je zaměřen proti Evropské unii.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis entitled The phenomenon of so-called Euroscepticism in the Czech Republic: development, motives, manifestations deals with the negative attitude towards the European Union, ie Euroscepticism. First, it specifies the concepts of Europeanization, European (civil) society and European values. The thesis further puts Euroscepticism into the populism of political parties and finds out how much populism has an impact on Euroscepticism. The migration and coronavirus crises are also taken into account, on which the thesis shows a deepening of Euroscepticism. Confidence in the institutions of the European Union is also monitored, and data from the Public Opinion Research Center are used here. The party Euroscepticism of selected political parties, which are the most visible in the political spectrum, is also discussed. For political parties, the diploma thesis discusses their election programs for the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2021, in the context of the perception of the European Union. The aim of the thesis is to find out which political parties are Eurosceptic by means of a search of texts. Furthermore, the thesis points to the fact that these parties use populism in their promotion, which is directed against the European Union.
