Children's literature applied to "Connexions 1"

Abstract:

This Master thesis deals with the use of literary texts in language class, particularly french. It's based on hypotheses claiming that literary text isn't very popular in modern languages teaching and that it is not present enough in languages manual, even though it's very enriching in every domain and allows to develop every language proficiency. The research proved that teachers consider literary text as very difficult to read, inappropriate for beginners and not interesting enough for pupils. This Master thesis, besides the theory on the use of literary text in class, also presents different ways to work with books in a funny way and without having to master the language better than A1 level, and all of this thanks to children's literature. Four pedagogical worksheets containing activities concerning four different books of francophone children's literature, applies to the objectives of the units of the manual Connexions 1, which is one of the most used ones in french language teaching. The practical part of the thesis can be very useful for language classes using the Connexions 1 method, as well as other french language classes not using it.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá využitím literárních textů ve výuce cizích jazyků, především francouzského. Vychází z hypotéz, že literární text není příliš populární v moderní výuce jazyků a není dostatečně nabízen současnými jazykovými učebnicemi, přestože je velmi obohacující v různých směrech a pomáhá rozvíjet všechny jazykové kompetence. Vlastní výzkum prokázal, že učitelé se domnívají, že literární text je příliš náročný, nevhodný pro začátečníky a že o něj žáci nemají zájem. Tato diplomová práce, kromě toho, že se zabývá teorií o využívání literárních textů při výuce, předsavuje různé způsoby, jak pracovat s knihami zábavně a bez nutnosti ovládat jazyk na úrovni vyšší než A1, a to díky dětské literatuře. Čtyři metodické listy obsahující aktivity na čtyři různé knihy dětské frankofonní literatury jsou aplikovány přímo na cíle modulů v učebnici Connexions 1, která patří mezi nejrozšířenější učebnice ve výuce francouzštiny. Praktická část diplomové práce tedy může být využita v jazykových třídách využívajících učebnici Connexions 1, ale také v ostatních kurzech francouzštiny na ní nezávislých.
