Theory of architecture and design in the digital age: a theoretical revision of thinking about digitally mediated architecture and design

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá reflexivním výzkumem teorie architektury a designu se zaměřením na digitální strukturu a formu umělecké tvorby, která využívá digitální věk a nové tendence kreativního myšlení ke vzniku uměleckých architektonických a designových intervencí. Předmět výzkumu je zkoumán komplexně a kriticky s cílem promýšlet teorii architektury a designu ovlivněnou digitálním věkem. Revize je v práci zaměřena na teoretický diskurz, který řeší problematiku zasazení digitálně zprostředkovaného navrhování, respektive computational design, do diskurzu určité sjednocené teorie konvenční architektury. Sledovány jsou proměny teorie digitální architektury a designu, estetická a filosofická východiska, procesy a tvůrčí tendence. Práce se pohybuje mezi teoretickým, metodologickým, estetickým a filosofickým zkoumáním uplatnění výpočetního navrhování v kontextu nové kreativity digitální reality v oblasti designu a architektury.

Abstract:

The master's thesis deals with reflexive research in the theory of architecture and design. It focuses on the digital structure and form of artistic creation, which uses the digital age and new tendencies of creative thinking to create architectural and design interventions. The subject of the thesis is researched comprehensively and critically to rethink the theory of architecture and design influenced by the digital age. The revision is focused on the theoretical discourse, which addresses the issue of embedding digitally aided design, respectively computational design, in the discourse of a unified theory of conventional architecture. The thesis follows the changes in the theory of digital architecture and design, aesthetic and philosophical backgrounds, processes, and creative tendencies. The work moves between theoretical, methodological, aesthetic, and philosophical research of the application of computational design in the context of the new creativity of digital reality in design and architecture.
