Québec, Scotland and the debate about the independecne of provincies after unsuccessful referendums

Abstract:

Secese je vzhledem k četnosti secesionistických hnutí, jež ovlivnily a ovlivňují současnou politickou situaci ve světě, stále důležitým tématem současné politické vědy. Secesionistické tendence nejsou ničím výjimečným ani v případě kanadského Québecu a Skotska. Právě tyto dva zmíněné regiony jsou předmětem mého zkoumání ve vztahu k politickému secesionismu. Práce nejprve vysvětluje základní terminologii spojena s touto tématikou a v druhé části analyzuje a komparuje tyto dva regiony na základě kritérií, která jsou v souvislosti s politickou secesí, secesionistickým vývojem v obou regionech, právem na secesi dle práva mezinárodního a na v poslední řadě s aktuální politickou a ekonomickou situací z hlediska vlivu na budoucí vývoj secesionistických tendencí v regionech.

Abstract:

The main aim of this bachelor´s thesis focus is on the introduction and explanation of main theories and deffinitions of political secesionism and secesion itself. My goal was to find out if Québec and Scotland has the right to secesede according the international right and if the secession would be possible nowadays in both regions by any chance. The main methods I use in my thesis are comparation and analysis. First I introduce basic deffinitions of secession from experts in the field of politics and international relations. After the lay out of the basic terminology i compared secesionism and separatism. In the Analytical part of my thesis there are four comparative criterion that helped me to find the answers for my question. My first questin is Would be the secession of Québec and Scotland possible nowadays?, and the second question is Have Québec and Scotland the right to secede according the international law?
