Gold mineralization in the Brno masiv

Abstract:

Tato práce se věnuje studiu podílu těžkých minerálů a jejich asociaci se zlatem ve vodních tocích v oblasti severo-západně od Žebětína. Těžké minerály byly studovány binokulárním a elektronovým mikroskopem. Výsledkem jsou data o procentuálním zastoupení a chemické složení zrn jednotlivých těžkých minerálů. Dominantní zde byly minerály epidotové skupiny (16–28 %), magnetit (7–27 %), apatit (8–19 %), titanit a axinit (6–19 %), zirkon (6–17 %), amfibol (0–17 %), pyrit (2–14 %), granát (2–9 %). ilmenit (1–6 %), monazit a xenotim (1–4 %), scheelit (0,0–0,5 %). Analýzy chemického složení granátu pak ukazují, že v sedimentech dominují zrna dvou typů: almandinem a grossularem bohaté. Amfiboly byly dle chemických analýz určeny jako magnesiohornblend a aktinolit. Z těchto analýz a porovnání vychází, že pochází z vyvřelých a metamorfovaných hornin brněnského masivu. Na hrudkovitých zlatinkách se vyskytují povlaky limonitu, které je spojují s pyritem, jež je zde postižen variabilním stupněm limonitizace. Ve snosové oblasti studovaných sedimentů byly nalezeny křemenné žíly. V zónách silifikace, které je obklopují, byl nalezen pyrit, což nás společně s předpokládanou asociací zlata s pyritem vede k závěru, že je zlato v této oblasti asociováno s hydrotermálními žilami, kde se vyskytuje s pyritem.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with studying the heavy mineral assemblage of the stream sediments in the northwest of Žebětín (Czech Republic). The identification under binocular microscope followed by electron microprobe analysis determined the percentage of heavy minerals. The heavy mineral assemblage of studied sands and sandy gravels includes minerals of the epidote group (16–28 %), magnetite (7–27 %), apatite (8–19 %), titanite and axinite (6–19 %), zircon (6–17 %), amphibole (0–17 %), pyrite (2–14 %), garnet (2–9 %). ilmenite (1–6 %), monazite and xenotime (1–4 %), scheelite (0.0–0.5 %). There are generally two types of garnet almandine and grossular-rich. Amphiboles were determined according to chemical analyses as magnesiohornblende and actinolite. The heavy mineral assemblage and mineral chemistry suggest mixed provenance consisting of igneous and metamorphic rocks of the Brno Massif. Spatial association of placer gold particles with pyrite and coatings of limonite on gold particles surface indicates that gold is asociated with hydrothermal mineralization. Pyrite has been found in the zones of silicification that surround quartz veins in the two localities in the source area. This fact, together with the presumed association of gold with pyrite, leads us to conclusion that gold is in this area associated with hydrothermal veins where it occurs with pyrite.
