Data refilling methods for climate models

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci je vybudována nová metoda pro doplňování chybějících dat v klimatických modelech. K doplňování je využita tzv. analýza funkcionálních dat, která při zpracování dat uvažuje namísto diskrétních hodnot hladké funkce. V této práci jsou funkce reprezentovány pomocí B-splajnové a Fourierovy báze, dále jsou tyto funkce vyhlazeny pomocí metody regularizace. Cílem práce je doplnění chybějících dat v klimatických modelech prostřednictvím analýzy funkcionálních dat. K doplnění nekompletních hodnot jsou použity výstupy 12 klimatických modelů, konkrétně se jedná o průměrné měsíční teploty mezi roky 1971 a 2000. Dalším cílem je porovnání výsledků nově vzniklé metody s výsledky již dříve implementované metody založené na analýze rozptylu. Analýza je provedena pomocí matematického softwaru R.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis presents a newly constructed method of filling in the missing data in climatic models. In order to deal with mentioned issue, so called functional data analysis is used, which works with smooth functions instead of discrete values. Functions are represented using B-spline and Fourier's bases in this thesis, and further smoothed by the regularization method. The aim is to fill in the missing data in climatic models via functional data analysis. Outcomes from 12 climatic models, specifically month temperature averages between years 1971 and 2000, are used to correct the incomplete values. Another aim is to compare the new method results to results of previously implemented method using Analysis of variance. The analysis is applied via mathematical software R.
