The quality of life of children with inflammatory bowel diseases

Abstract:

Cíl: Hlavním cílem výzkumu je zjistit kvalitu života dětí s vybraným zánětlivým onemocněním střev a porovnat ji s vrstevníky, kteří tímto onemocněním netrpí. Metodika: Empirická část práce byla provedena formou kvantitativního šetření. Sběr dat byl realizován pomocí standardizovaného dotazníku Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory Generic Core Scales a Pediatric Quality of Life Gastrointestinal Scales. Dotazník byl navíc rozšířen o sociodemografické údaje zaměřující se na věk a pohlaví dítěte, typ nemoci a věk v době určení diagnózy. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 54 dětí trpících zánětlivým onemocněním střev a 107 vrstevníků bez tohoto chronického onemocnění. Data byla zpracována pomocí statistické analýzy. Výsledky: Analýza dat prokázala významné statistické rozdíly v kvalitě života mezi dětmi se zánětlivým onemocněním střev a kontrolní skupinou. Bylo prokázáno, že děti se zánětlivým onemocněním střev mají horší kvalitu života než jejich vrstevníci, již nejsou tímto onemocněním postiženi. Závěr: Zánětlivé onemocnění střev patří do skupiny onemocnění, která výrazně ovlivňují kvalitu života, a to ve všech jeho oblastech. Z tohoto důvodu je nutné ji důsledně sledovat a zjištěné výsledky následně individuálně zohlednit v péči o tyto děti.

Abstract:

Objective: The main aim of this research is to find the quality of life of children with selected inflammatory bowel disease and compare it with peers that do not suffer from this disease. Methodology: The empirical part of this research was carried out in the form of a quantitative survey. Data collected was realised with the help of using a standardized questionnaire Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory Generic Core Scales and Pediatric Quality of Life Gastrointestinal Scales. In addition, the questionnaire was expanded to include socio-demographic data focusing on the age and sex of the child, the type of illness and the age at the time of diagnosis. The research group was formed of 54 children suffering from the inflammatory bowel disease and 107 of their peers without chronic disease. The data shown have been processed using statistical analysis. Results: Data analysed proved significant statistical differences in the quality of life between children with inflammatory bowel disease and the control group. It has been proven that children with inflammatory bowel disease have been shown to have a worse quality of life than their peers without inflammatory bowel disease. Conclusion: Inflammatory bowel disease belongs to a group of diseases that significantly affect the quality of life in all areas of life. For this reason, it is necessary to observe and take these results into account individually in the care of these children.
