Childhood Motifs in Marie Luise Kaschnitz's Short Stories

Abstract:

Own childhood has affected authorship of Marie Luise Kaschnitz (1901-1974) at the most. It was comlicated and difficult. She has transformed her memories mainly in her short stories and diaries. Her autorship has been extensive, she has written novels, poems, radio plays. Short stories were in center of her autorship, which have autobiographical character. I introduce the Marie Luise Kaschnitz's childhood in shortness in my thesis, because memories of Kaschnitz have been very important during the writing of the short stories. I define autobiography as a literary genre and I focuse on the reason, why the biography has become the "center" of her autorship. Important part of this dessertation devote to analysis of autobiographical components of the short stories, in the context of this genre. Aim of my thesis is to find out, how Kaschnitz works with the instance of storyteller, how writing has helped to Kaschnitz during her own identity and if Kaschnitz has reflected her woman experiencies in autobiographical output.

Abstract:

Tvorbu Marie Lusie Kaschnitzové (1901-1974) nejvíce ovlivnilo vlastní dětství. Bylo komplikované a obtížné. Své vzpomínky zpracovala především ve svých povídkách a denících. Její tvorba byla rozsáhlá, psala romány, básně, rozhlasové hry. Středem její tvorby se staly povídky, které mají autobiografický charakter. Protože vlastní vzpomínky z dětství hrály při psaní povídek u Kaschnitzové rozhodující roli, představuji ve své diplomové práci v krátkosti její dětství. Charakterizuji obecně autobiografii jako literární žánr a zaměřuji se na důvod, proč se autobiografie stala "centrem" literární tvorby Kaschnitzové. Podstatná část této diplomové práce je věnována analýze autobiografických prvků povídek, v kontextu tohoto žánru. Cílem mé práce je zjistit, jak Kaschnitzová pracuje s instancí vypravěčky, jak psaní pomohlo Kaschnitzové při hledání své vlastní identity a zda do své autobiografické tvorby promítla specifickou ženskou zkušenost.
