Social networks and information security: The importance of information literacy and critical thinking for privacy protection and suppression cyberbullying.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na problematiku bezpečného užívání sociálních sítí v kybernetickém prostoru. V teoretické části práce jsou v jednotlivých kapitolách definovány základní pojmy podstatné pro zvolené téma. Nejdříve jsou objasněny termíny kybernetický prostor a sociální síť a dále pak některé velmi závažné nežádoucí jevy s možným negativním dopadem na jednotlivce, se kterými se v tomto nekonečně otevřeném kybernetickém světě mohou uživatelé setkat. Největší prostor je zde, s ohledem na téma této práce, věnován fenoménu nazývanému kyberšikana. Současně jsou uvedeny možné právní dopady na aktéry tohoto nežádoucího jednání. Teoretická část práce dále rozebírá možné prvky, jejichž používáním může být dosaženo přijatelné bezpečnosti a pohody v online prostředí, důraz je zde kladen na používání prvků kritického myšlení. Následně jsou v praktické části formou dotazníkového šetření uživatelů sociálních sítí zjišťovány a vyhodnoceny znalosti a používání prvků kritického myšlení na sociálních sítích.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the issue of safe usage of social networks in the cyberspace. In the theoretical part of the work, fundamental concepts relevant to the chosen topic are defined in individual chapters. First, the terms cyberspace and social network are clarified. Subsequently, various highly significant undesirable phenomena with potential negative impact on individuals are defined. Users in this infinitely open cyber world may encounter these phenomena. The central section of this work, given its theme, is focused on the phenomenon known as cyberbullying. Additionally, potential legal consequences for the actors involved in such undesirable behavior are outlined. The theoretical part of the thesis further examines possible elements that, when employed, can contribute to acceptable safety and well-being in the online environment. Emphasis is placed on the use of critical thinking elements. Subsequently, the practical section involves a questionnaire-based survey of social network users to assess their knowledge and utilization of critical thinking elements within social networks.
