Roman bath in Flavia Caesariensis in Britannia

Abstract:

V práci jsem se zaměřila na Římské lázně ležící ve Flavia Caesariensis v provincii Britannia. Nejprve jsem definovala funkce jednotlivých místností v lázních, hypocaustní a vodní systém. Následně jsem popsala historický vývoj provincie Britannia. Dále se věnuji popisu jednotlivých lázní, které jsou řazeny časově, dle doby jejich vzniku. Zde ovšem nastává někdy nepřehledná situace, protože některé lázně sloužily třeba jen necelé století, jiné byly v chodu téměř 400 let, a na těchto lázních můžeme pozorovat stavební vývoj. Po výčtu a popisu lázní jsem se zaměřila na jejich vzájemné porovnání. Do tohoto srovnání jsem zahrnula i lázně z jiných částí Britannie, i z jiných provincií. Zde popisuji nejprve lázně v Chesteru jakožto jediné vojenské lázně ve Flavia Caesariensis, a srovnávám je s jinými vojenskými lázněmi v Britannii i v jiných provinciích. Další odstavec se zabývá lázněmi, na které byla připojena bazilika. Zde se jednalo většinou o větší lázeňské komplexy (např. Wroxeter). Následuje tzv. skupina Row type, kam jsem zařadila malé a jednoduché lázně. Na konci zmiňuji skupinu, kde jsou lázně součástí vill.

Abstract:

In my thesis I have focused on the Roman Baths, located in the Flavia Caesariensis, Britannia. First, I defined the function of each room in the bath, hypocaust and water system. Then I described the historical development of the province of Britannia. In addition, I describe each bath, which are arranged in time, according to the time of their creation. Here, however, has sometimes confusing situation because some resorts served only need less than a century, others have been in operation for almost 400 years, and these spas can be seen building development. After enumeration and description of the bath, I focused on their comparison. By this comparison, I also include spa from other parts of Britain, from other provinces. Here I describe the first bath in Chester as the only military bath in Flavia Caesariensis, and compare them with other military baths in Britain and in other provinces. The next section deals with the bath, which was attached to the Basilica. Here it was mostly the larger bath complexes (eg Wroxeter). Followed by a group called Row type, where I joined a small and simple room. At the end mention group, where the center part of the villa.
