The influence of steroids with anabolic effects on the microscopic structure of testes of pigs

Abstract:

V potravinářském průmyslu dochází k nezákonnému využití steroidů ve výkrmu zvířat za účelem rychlejšího růstu. Z vepřového masa se poté mohou rezidua těchto látek dostat až ke konzumentovi a způsobit řadu nežádoucích účinků. Proto v této diplomové práci s názvem „Vliv steroidních hormonů s anabolickým účinkem na mikroskopickou strukturu varlat u prasat“ byly posuzovány histologické a cytologické změny tkáně varlat ze tří skupin prasat, kterým byl intramuskulárně podáván nandrolon (skupina 1), testosteron (skupina 2) a bez aplikace steroidů (kontrolní skupina). K analýze bylo použito 9 vzorků, ze kterých byly připraveny histologické řezy, které byly následně obarveny. Do analýzy změn tkáně byl zahrnut průměr semenotvorného stočeného kanálku, výška epitelu, přítomnost spermatid, tvar a vzdálenost jednotlivých semenotvorných kanálků od sebe a přítomnost Leydigových buněk v intersticiu. Výsledky byly zdokumentovány a statisticky zpracovány pomocí vhodného softwaru. Byly zjištěny statisticky průkazné rozdíly zejména mezi kontrolou a steroidy, což prokazuje jejich vliv na strukturu tkáně pohlavních žláz.

Abstract:

In the food industry there are illegally used steroids when fattening animals to achieve quicker grow. Residues of these substances, from pork, can then reach the consumer and cause a number of side effects. Therefore in this thesis named „The influence of steroids with anabolic effects on the microscopic structure of testes of pigs“ histological and cytological changes on testicular tissue of pigs from three groups that were intramuscularly administered a mixture containing nandrolone (group 1), testosterone (group 2) and mixture without steroids (control group) were evaluated. There were 9 samples used for analysis from which histological sections were prepared and coloured later on. The diameter of the seminiferous tubules, the height of the epithelium, the presence of spermatids, the shape and distance of individual seminiferous tubules and presence of Leydig cells in interstitium was included in the analysis of the tissue changes. The results were documented and statically processed by using appropriate software. Statistically conclusive differences were found mainly between control and steroids which proves their influence on the structure of sex glands.
