Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá několika problémy týkající se minimality promise verze deterministického konečného automatu (pvDFA) vzhledem ke dvěma různým módům akceptování. Dokážeme jednoznačnost minimálního pvDFA pracujícího v rozhodujícím módu, a navrhneme nový algoritmus pro jeho minimalizaci. Poté ukážeme, že minimální pvDFA řešící daný promise problém není určen jednoznačně. Popíšeme algoritmy na zjištění, zda daný pvDFA řeší daný promise problém, který je zakódován pomocí pvDFA nebo zásobníkových automatů, a dokážeme, že tento problém není pro promise problémy obecně řešitelný. Zabýváme se otázkou nalezení minimálního pvDFA řešícího daný promise problém, a dokážeme, že tento problém není řešitelný pro promise problémy definované pomocí Turingových strojů. Dokážeme, že není řešitelná otázka zda daný promise problém definovaný pomocí Turingových strojů je řešitelný pomocí pvDFA. Na konec se zabýváme sjednocením, průnikem a zřetězením promise problémů vzhledem k pvDFA.

Abstract:

In this paper we explore several minimality problems concerning promise version deterministic finite automata (pvDFA) with respect to two different modes of acceptance. In particular, we prove that the minimal pvDFA recognizing a promise problem is determined uniquely, and design a new algorithm for finding this minimal pvDFA. We then show that a minimal pvDFA solving a promise problem is not determined uniquely. We describe algorithms to decide whether a given pvDFA solves a given promise problem that is defined using pvDFA or pushdown automata, and prove that this problem is not decidable for general promise problems. We deal with the question of finding a minimal pvDFA solving a given promise problem, and prove that this problem is not always solvable. We also prove that it is not decidable whether a given promise problem encoded using Turing machines can be solved by pvDFA. At the end we define union, intersection and concatenation of promise problems, and explore their closure properties and state complexity with respect to pvDFA.
