Decoration of Church of Assumption of Virgin Mary in Valtice

Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská práce je zaměřena na výzdobu a historický kontext farního kostela Nanebevzetí Panny Marie ve Valticích. Jedná se totiž o jedinečnou stavbu související s patronátem rodu Lichtenštejnů, jíž výzdobě nebyla dosud věnována pozornost. Text je založen na průzkumu pramenů a literatury, dále ikonografické analýze a formálním porovnáváním předloh obrazů vytvořených pro valtický farní kostel. Pozornost je věnována i uměleckému mecenátu rodu Lichtenštejnů, kteří stavbu a výzdobu chrámu financovali. Práce tak nastiňuje historii kostela, přestavuje jeho výzdobu (její autory, ikonografii a další souvislosti) a závěrem se krátce věnuje reprezentaci knížecích mecenášů v prostředí chrámu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the decoration and historical context of the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Valtice. It is an unique building related to the patronage of the Liechtenstein family, which decoration has not devoted attention yet. The text is based on an exploration of sources and literature, as well as iconographic analysis and a formal comparison of paintings created for the parish church in Valtice. Attention is also paid to the artistic patronage of the Liechtenstein family, who financed the construction and decoration of the church. The work thus outlines the history of the church, presents its decoration (its authors, iconography and other contexts) and in the end briefly deals with the representation of princely patrons in the church.
