Component repository supporting compatibility evaluation

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je navrhnout a implementovat úložiště softwarových komponent rozšiřitelné o podporu nových formátů komponent a nástrojů pro jejich analýzu. Při návrhu je kladen důraz na popisná metadata, která poskytnou dostatek informací o komponentě a umožní shrnout, porovnat a vyhodnotit výsledky testů kompatibility. Teoretická část obsahuje krátký úvod do problematiky komponentového vývoje, analýzu vnějších i vnitřních mechanismů používaných současnými úložišti a shrnuje přístupy k ukládání a poskytování komponent. V praktické části jsou shrnuty a analyzovány požadavky na vyvíjené úložiště a životní cyklus uložených komponent. Dále je popsán návrh aplikačního rozhraní úložiště pro rozšiřitelnost, popisná metadata, úložiště komponent a úložiště výsledků testů. Úložiště je implementované jako OSGi aplikace, integruje nástroj pro verzování OSGi komponent a umožňuje spolupráci s frameworkem Apache ACE. Formát popisných dat je založen na specifikaci OSGi Bundle Repository.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to design and implement a repository of software components extensible to support new component formats and tools for their analysis. Emphasis is placed on descriptive metadata which will provide sufficient information about the component and thus allow summarizing, comparing and evaluating the results of compatibility tests. The theoretical part contains a brief introduction to the problems of component-based application development, analysis of external and internal mechanisms used by current repositories, and summarizes the approaches to storing and providing components. The practical part collects and analyses requirements for the envisioned repository and life-cycle of stored component. It then presents a design of the APIs for repository extensibility, descriptive metadata, storage of components and test results. The repository, implemented as an OSGi application, is integrated with OSGi Version Generator and with the repository for the Apache ACE framework. The metadata format used is that of the OSGi Bundle Repository.
