The function of calcium signaling in cancer progression

Abstract:

Vápník hraje důležitou roli při buněčné signalizaci, a proto si ho buňka ukládá v podobě zásob do organel. V případě potřeby jsou vápenaté ionty uvolňovány do cytosolu prostřednictvím vápenatých kanálů a pump nebo receptorů. Uvolněný vápník se může v cytosolu následně vázat na řadu molekul, čímž se spouští signální kaskády ovlivňující velké množství procesů. Mezi tyto procesy patří například proliferace, diferenciace nebo apoptóza, což jsou děje úzce spjaty s karcinogenezí.

Abstract:

Calcium plays an important role during a cell signaling and therefore the cell stores its supplies inside organelles. If necessary, calcium ions are released into the cytosol through calcium channels, pumps or receptors. Consequently, the released calcium can bind to a number of molecules inside the cytosol and thereby it can activate the signaling cascades which affect a large number of processes. These processes include for example proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis which are closely linked to carcinogenesis.
