The impact of remote work technologies on greenhouse gas emissions in higher education institutions

This study investigates the environmental impact of remote work technologies from the perspective of university students and em-ployees at Higher Educa-tion Institutions. The study examines the im-pact of these technologies on the students' and the employees' percep-tion of the sustainability issue while fo-cusing on the reduction of gree-nhouse gas (GHG) emissions. A new re-search is proposed on the adop-tion of technologies for remote work by using an extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) considering perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, social influence, trust, and privacy con-cerns. An online survey of 200 participants was conducted and analysed to understand how the factors contribute towards the adoption of remote work practices. The findings serve to uncover remote work's part in the sustainabili-ty of higher education institutions and offer practical advice for the develop-ment of policy and the implementation of future tech-nologies.
