Literary Competence of German-Czech Bilingual Children in the Light of the Interdependence Hypothesis

Abstract:

The diploma thesis tries to find out if Czech-German bilingual children, who attend 3. – 6. grade at primary/secondary school, transfer their literacy competences from their first language to their second language. The theory part outlines pedagogical view about this topic, which, according to the Interdependence Hypotheses, claims that the transfer of competences takes place. The practical part introduces results of a text analysis. The analysed texts were written by bilingual children, who attend compulsory education in Germany but to some degree also get Czech lessons. The goal of the thesis is to find out if the competences in the Czech and German language are somewhat similar, which would support their mutual influencing, or if the competences in the two languages are somewhat different, which would mean that the two languages are not influencing each other.

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce zjišťuje, zda u dvojjazyčných německo-českých dětí navštěvujících 3. – 6. třídu základní školy dochází při psaní textů k přenosu jejich kompetencí z prvního jazyka na jazyk druhý. V teoretické části práce je nastíněn pedagogický pohled na tuto problematiku, který zastává názor, že na základě hypotézy interdependence k přenosu kompetencí mezi jazyky a tedy k jejich vzájemnému ovlivňování dochází. Praktická část práce představuje výsledky analýzy textů získaných od dvojjazyčných dětí, které plní svoji povinnou školní docházku na německých školách, ale zároveň se jim dostává v různých formách i výuky českého jazyka. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda jsou kompetence dětí v českém a německém jazyce ve stanovených kategoriích analýzy spíše stejné, což by podporovalo jejich vzájemné ovlivňování, nebo jsou spíše rozdílné, což by naopak znamenalo, že k přenosu kompetencí nedochází a jazyky se navzájem neovlivňují.
