The issue of Turkey's accession to the European Union

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá otázkou vstupu Turecka do Evropské unie. V práci se zaměřím především na politické aspekty, část práce se bude věnovat také otázce kulturních rozdílů a dodržování lidských práv. V úvodu práce se zaměřím na historii Turecka, následně stručně popíšu vznik Evropské Unie. Celá práce bude koncipována chronologicky, kdy se v závěru práce zaměřím na současnou situaci a zhodnotím aspekty pro a proti vstupu Turecka do EU. Před otázkou, jestli se má Turecko stát členem organizace, stojí EU již více než půl století a v dohledné době ji pravděpodobně nevyřeší, přesto mým cílem bylo přiblížit se ke konečnému verdiktu této problematiky.

Abstract:

This work deals with the issue of Turkey's accession to the European union. In my work I will mainly focus on political aspects, part of the work will also be focused on the question of cultural differences and respect for human rights. In the introduction I will focus on the history of Turkey and then I will briefly describe the creation of the European Union. The whole work will be written in chronological order, when at the end I will focuse on the current situation and evaluate aspects that are for and againts Turkey's accession to the European Union. Whether Turkey will be accepted as a member of the Union is a question the European Union is facing for more than a half a century and it seems to be unlikely to resolve in foreseeable future, my goal was to move closer to the final decision on this issue regardless.
