Influence of family on self-assessment of high school students

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaobírá tématem vlivu rodiny na sebehodnocení u středoškolských studentů. Teoretická část se skládá ze tří kapitol - Období adolescence; Jáství, jeho struktury a funkce a Rodina. Cílem bakalářské práce bylo provést teoretickou a pojmovou analýzu vlivu rodiny na sebehodnocení středoškolských studentů a na jejím podkladě realizovat výzkum týkající se vlivu rodiny na sebehodnocení na vybraném vzorku středoškolských studentů. Při realizaci výzkumu byly použity tři škály - Rosenbergova škála sebehodnocení, Škála rodinného prostředí a Škála sebehodnocení fyzického vzhledu - doplněné o sociodemografický dotazník. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 332 respondentů ze čtyř středních škol (200 dívek, 132 chlapců) ve věku 15 - 20 let. Výsledky výzkumu poukázaly na fakt, že není pro sebehodnocení adolescenta zásadní, zda je rodina rozvrácená či nikoliv, ale jaký vztah má dospívající se svou matkou a otcem. Dále přinesly poznatky o souvislosti mezi sebehodnocením a rodinnou atmosférou, kdy nejzásadnější je soudržnost, expresivnost a aktivně rekreační orientace rodiny. Byla zjištěna mezipohlavní rozdílnost v sebehodnocení a významný vztah mezi sebehodnocením a (ne)spokojeností s fyzickým vzhledem.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of influence of family on self-assessment of secondary school students. The theoretical part consists of three chapters - The Adolescence; Self, its structure and function and The Family. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to make a theoretical and conceptual analysis of the influence of the family on self-assessment of high school students and, on the basis of this, to conduct a research on the influence of the family on self-assessment on a selected sample of secondary school students. Three scales were used during the realization of the research - the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the Family Environment Scale and the Basic Olomouc Body Rating - supplemented by a sociodemographic questionnaire. The research involved 332 respondents from four secondary schools (200 girls, 132 boys) aged 15-20. The results of the research point to the fact that it is not primary for adolescent self-assessment whether the family is broken or not, but what the relationship is like with their mother and father. It also brings knowledge about the connections between self-assessment and the family atmosphere, where the cohesion, expressiveness and the active recreational orientation of the family are the most important. There were found gender specific differences in self-assessment and significant relationship between self-assessment and (dis)satisfaction with physical appearance.
