History and present of service kynology

Abstract:

Tato práce má za úkol shrnout poznatky z historie a současnosti služební kynologie. Teoretická část čerpá z odborné literatury, kde se promítne kynologie od starověku až po rok 1998. Současnost je zaměřena na chovatelské stanice, výběr psů používaných ve služební kynologii, využití psů ve všestranné i speciální kynologii a v neposlední řadě metoda pachové identifikace. V praktické části je obsažen strukturovaný dotazník, který byl soustředěn na policejní pracovníky i na civilisty, kteří se služební kynologii věnují. Otázek bylo 24 a odpovědělo na ně 102 respondentů. Z dotazníkového šetření vyplývá, že služební kynologii se věnují převážně muži. U dotazovaných jasně převládá německý ovčák jako nejčastěji používané plemeno ve služební kynologii. Největší přínosem služební kynologii u respondentů je fakt, že služební psi jsou využíváni při pachových pracích. Při otázce, jak by si dotazovaní představovali zlepšení služební kynologie, nejčastěji odpovídali, že chtějí lepší zázemí, vyšší kvalitu psů i vyšší kvalitu psovodů. Tato práce je ukončena závěrem, který je doplněn o názory autora práce.

Abstract:

The aim of this case study is to summarize the knowledge from the historical and present development of service cynology. The theoretical part comes from the literature, which reflects cynology from antiquity to the year 1998. The present or recent part is focused on kennels, selection of dogs used in service cynology, the use of dogs in versatile and special cynology and last but not least, the method of odor identification. The practical part contains a structured questionnaire, which was focused on police officers as well as civilians involved in service cynology. There were 24 questions and 102 respondents answered them. The questionnaire survey shows that service cynology is popular mainly among men. The German shepherd clearly predominates among the respondents as the most frequently used breed in service cynology. The biggest benefit of service cynology among respondents is the fact that service dogs are used in odor work. When the respondents were asked on how the service cynology could be improved, most often they answered that they want a better background, higher quality dogs and higher quality handlers. This case study is concluded with a perspective, which is supplemented by the opinions of the author of the study.
