Abstract:

Cílem této studie je odhalit takové jevy jako sexismus a misogynie v online videohrách. Vzhledem k tomu, že videohry jsou prostorem, ve kterém lidé mohou vzájemně komunikovat, mohou tyto kontakty někdy způsobit nejen pozitivní emoce, ale i negativní. Někdy negativní emoce mohou být zaměřeny nejen na styl a způsob hry člověka, ale přímo na jeho pohlaví. Otázka, zda by ženy měly hrát videohry, je pro některé hráče stále relevantní. Proto jsou ženy často vystaveny cíleným urážkám, které ovlivňují jejich morální a fyzický stav. Teoretická část této práce je věnována studiu historických, technických a sociálních jevů prostoru videoher, které se přímo týkají žen. Hlavním problémem této práce je identifikovat dopad sexismu a misogynie na ženské publikum ve videohře v žánru MOBA "League of Legends" v ruském sektoru hry. Hlavní otázkou práce je: jaké jsou zkušenosti a emoce hráček ohledně projevů sexismu v online herním prostředí? Aby bylo možné odpovědět na položenou otázku, byla provedena kvalitativní studie ve formě hloubkových rozhovorů s devíti hráčkami, které měly negativní zkušenost se setkáním s jevy, které jsou pro výzkumníka zajímavé.

Abstract:

The objective of this study is to uncover such phenomena as sexism and misogyny in online video games. Since video games are the space in which people can communicate with each other, these contacts can sometimes cause not only positive emotions but also negative ones. Sometimes negative emotions can be directed not only at the style and manner of a person's game but at his or her gender. The question of whether women should play video games is still relevant for some players. Therefore, women are often subjected to targeted insults that affect their moral and physical condition. The theoretical part of this work is devoted to the study of historical, technical, and social phenomena of the video game space that directly concern women. The main issue of this work is to identify the impact of sexism and misogyny on the female audience in a video game in the MOBA genre “League of Legends” in the Russian server of the game. The main question of the work is: What are the experiences and emotions of female players regarding the manifestations of sexism in the online gaming environment? In order to answer the question posed, a qualitative study was conducted in the form of in-depth interviews with nine female players who had a negative experience of encountering phenomena of interest to the researcher.
