Day-to-day existence in cyberspace as a discourse

Abstract:

Diplomová práce předkládá analýzu diskurzů – jako promluv – vybraných respondentů – silných uživatelů internetu a konzumentů mediálních obsahů. Prostřednictvím diskurzivní analýzy vyprávění respondentů dle Geeho (2011), skrze sejmutí zkušeností uživatelů, práce přibližuje každodenní bytí jednotlivých uživatelů v kyberprostoru a jejich vztah k technologii. V jednotlivých vyprávěních sedmi respondentů byly identifikovány dominantní konstrukce reality podle Geeho, které byly následně uceleny do čtyř klíčových diskurzivních modelů – síť jako útočiště, pobyt v síti jako odcizení, síť jako kompenzace a síť jako „zábava“. Analytická část práce poukazuje na vzájemnou propojenost zmiňovaných diskurzivních modelů, které spojuje ztráta smyslu a vědomí vlastní podřízenosti vůči síti. Klíčovým konceptem se stává teorie odcizení – izolace od světa, jeho smyslu, odtrženost od lidí – od sebe sama, významnou strategií útěku od budoucnosti a vlastních myšlenek pak eskapismus.

Abstract:

This thesis presents an analysis of discourses – in form of utterances – of selected respondents - heavy Internet users and consumers of media content. Through discourse analysis of stories according to Gee (2011), by means of recording of the user experience, the thesis introduces everyday existence of individual users in cyberspace and their relationship to technology. In the narrations of seven respondents were identified dominant constructions of reality based on Gee´s analysis which were subsequently integrated into four key discourse models - the network as a refuge, staying on the network as alienation, the network as compensation and the network as „entertainment“. Analytical part highlights the interconnectedness of mentioned discursive models connected by the loss of purpose and own subordination towards the net. The key concept is a theory of alienation – an isolation from the world, from its sense, disaffection from the people - from oneself, the important strategy of escape from the future and user´s own thoughts, is escapism.
