Is the Beekeeping in the Czech Republic Sustainable?

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá včelařstvím v České republice a jeho udržitelností. Autorka zde definuje své vlastní indikátory udržitelnosti, podle kterých včelařství hodnotí. Struktura práce vystihuje její název. První kapitola je věnována představení oboru českého včelařství, významu chovu včely medonosné a práci včelaře. Zahrnuje i legislativní a ekonomickou stránku včelaření. V druhé kapitole je již pojednáno o hodnocení udržitelnosti na základě indikátorů počtu včelstev, počtu včelařů a jejich věku, úmrtnosti včelstev v důsledku nemocí, podílu drobných chovatelů a profesionálů a podílu stabilního a mobilního včelaření. Hlavní hypotéza hovořící o tom, že včelařství v České republice není udržitelné je v závěru práce potvrzena. V průběhu celé práce a zejména při hodnocení udržitelnosti autorka poukazuje na problémy současného českého včelařství a naznačuje cestu k jejich zlepšení.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with beekeeping in the Czech Republic and its sustainability. The author defines her own indicators of sustainability here in this text and according to these indicators values beekeeping itself. Structure of the thesis is represented by its title. The first chapter introduces field of the Czech beekeeping, importance of the beekeeping and beekeeper´s work. It includes legislative and economic aspect of beekeeping, as well. In the second chapter, it is talked about measuring sustainability on the basis of indicators: number of bee colonies, number of beekeepers and their age, mortality of bee colonies due to diseases, quotient of small breeders and profesionals and quotient of stationary and mobile beekeeping. The main hypothesis predicating beekeeping in the Czech Republic is not sustainable was confirmed in a conclucion. The author points to problems of present Czech beekeeping and suggests the way of their improvement.
