Hydrogeomorphological survey and assessment of the river network in the Ponávka drainage basin

Abstract:

Tato práce se věnuje hydromorfologickému hodnocení říční sítě v povodí Ponávky. Hydromorfologické hodnocení je v současné době aktuální a důležité, neboť hodnocení kvality vodních toků je povinností všech členských státu Evropské Unie. Cílem práce je vyhodnotit hydromorfologickou kvalitu Ponávky od pramene po ústí. Dále zjistit jak souvisí hydromorfologická kvalita vodního toku s okolním využitím území a v neposlední řadě zdokumentovat úseky vodních toků s přírodním habitatem. Teoretická část je věnována specifikům vodních toků v urbánním prostředí, protože právě tyto vodní toky jsou nejvíce pozměněné a značně degradované. Dále jsou představeny hodnotící metodiky různých zemí a Rámcová směrnice o vodní politice Evropské unie. Praktická část je zaměřena na sběr a vyhodnocení terénních dat. K hodnocení bylo využito dvou britských metodik – River Habitat Survey a Urban River Survey. Hodnocen byl celý vodní tok Ponávky a vybrané úseky vodních toků v různých typech využití území. Snahou také bylo nalézt, co nejvíce úseků vodních toků s přírodním habitatem, které by mohly být inspirací pro revitalizace antropogenně ovlivněných úseků vodních toků.

Abstract:

This master’s thesis is concerned with a hydromorphological assessment of the river network in the Ponávka drainage basin. Currently, the assessment of hydromorphological quality is actual and important, because it is required for all member states of the European Union. The aim of this thesis is the assessment of hydromorphological quality of the Ponávka River, from the spring to the estuaries. Another aim is to find out, how the hydromorphological quality is related to land use in the riparian zone. And last but not least, monitor the reaches of streams with natural habitat. The theoretical part of this thesis is concerned with the specifics of the streams in the urban landscape, because these streams are modified the most and significantly degraded. Next there are presented the methods of the hydromorphological assessment of different countries and The European Water Framework Directive. The practical part is focused on the collection and the evaluation of the field data. Two British methods of river survey are applied - River Habitat Survey and Urban River Survey. The entire length of the Ponávka River and the representative reaches of the various types of land use were assessed. The aim was also to find as many reaches of streams with natural habitat as possible, which could be the inspiration for the revitalization of the anthropogenic influenced reaches of streams.
