A choice of a country for an expansion of a selected company

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaobírá českým nápojářským startupem financovaným venture kapitálem, který v posledních letech výrazně rostl a hodlá expandovat na další trhy. Cílem diplomové práce bylo vybrat vhodný trh pro expanzi tohoto podniku. Pro výběr trhu byla zmapovaná internacionalizace nápojářských startupů ze střední Evropy, které jsou financovány venture kapitálem. Nejprve byl celosvětový výběr zúžen na 45 krajin Evropy použitím KO kritérií. Na základě studií a po diskusi s managementem podniku byl navrhnut model výběru trhu pro podrobnější posuzování vhodnosti krajin pro expanzi. Modelem byly vyselektovány čtyři potenciální kandidáti pro expanzi podniku. Použitím Porterové analýzy pěti sil a diskusí s managementem podniku byl nakonec navrhnut nejvhodnější trh, na který by podnik mohl expandovat.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with a decision-making analysis of a startup expansion to the international markets. As the case study, a venture capital-financed beverage startup was selected. The goal of this thesis was to choose the most suitable country for the expansion of this startup by studying the internationalisation of beverage startups financed by venture capital based in central Europe. Employing KO criteria, the global market was reduced to 45 potentially suitable countries. Based on the previous research and discussions with the startup management, the market selection model for a detailed assessment of the desirable markets was designed. By applying this model, the 4 potential countries for startup expansion were chosen. Finally, the enforcement of Porter’s 5 strengths model and discussion with startup management resulted in choosing the most suitable country for the market expansion.
