Absurd in the Mannerist Painting

Abstract:

Hlavním úkolem bakalářské diplomové práce s názvem Absurdno v malířském manýrismu je vysvětlení pojmu absurdna a zaměření se na jeho souvislosti s obdobím manýrismu v malířství. Začátkem práce je vysvětlení samotného termínu „absurdna“. Práce se dále soustředí na období manýrismu v malířství, ve kterém nalézáme stopu absurdního projevu. Čtenář se dovídá více o tomto uměleckém směru, který utvářel přechod mezi renesancí a nastupujícím barokem. Také je mu přiblíženo nalezení nového typu tvorby, který tato doba přinesla. Na dalších stranách této práce je rozebrána snaha o nové vidění a vnímání světa vedoucí k absurdnímu pojetí. Jako klíčová osobnost v práci vystupuje Albert Camus, ze kterého vychází hlavní myšlenkové postoje k tématu. Absurdno je zde vyjádřeno jako určitá vazba mezi člověkem, jeho životem a uměním. V souvislosti s absurdním uměním jsou předmětem zájmu výtvarní umělci jako Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Hieronymus Bosch a Pieter Bruegel. Prostřednictvím jejich malířských děl je ukázána čtenáři přítomnost absurdna v jejich malbách.

Abstract:

The main aim of my bachelor thesis, Absurd in the Mannerist Painting, is to explain absurd and to concentrate on its connection to the period of Mannerist painting. The thesis starts with an explanation of the absurd itself. Consequently, it concentrates on the period of Mannerist painting, in which traces of absurd expression can be found. A part of the text is devoted to the art movement itself, which shaped the transition between the Renaissance and the subsequent Baroque styles. Furthermore, the rise of a new type of art work brought by this era is introduced. The following chapters of the thesis analyze the pursuit of a new vision and the perception of the world leading to an absurd concept. The key figure of this period is Albert Camus, who initiated to the main ideological thoughts of the movement. The absurd is expressed as a specific bond between man, his life and the art. Other artists of the absurd era are for example Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel. The presence of the absurd artistic expression in their work is explored by the means of an analysis of their paintings.
