Abstract:

V souladu se zadáním projektu je předložená práce věnována systematickému výkladu role goniometrických funkcí v elementární matematice. Na základě studia rozmanité bohaté literatury věnované jednotlivým aspektům je náš výklad podán v ucelené původní podobě šesti kapitol. Kapitola 1 popisuje hlavní historické etapy rozvoje goniometrických poznatků. Postupně jsou vyloženy spolu s podrobným matematickým zdůvodněním postupy antického astronoma Klaudia Ptolemaia, středověkých indických a arabských matematiků a učenců renesanční Evropy. Kapitola končí popisem Eulerových výsledků, které převedly teorii goniometrických funkcí do současné podoby. V kapitole 2 se věnujeme základům trigonometrie založeným na podobnosti pravoúhlých trojúhelníků. V kapitole 3 přecházíme k trigonometrii obecného rovinného trojúhelníku. Výchozím poznatkem jsou věty o průmětech, ze kterých přímo odvozujeme nejen běžné poznatky, jako jsou sinová a kosinová věta, ale také hlubší výsledky, známé pod názvy tangentová věta nebo Molweidovy vzorce. Poté uvádíme jejich četné aplikace, zahrnující také důkazy součtových a rozdílových vzorců v oboru konvexních úhlů. Kapitola 4, která je v celé práci stěžejní, je postupným výkladem teorie goniometrických funkcí v oboru reálných čísel. Po obvyklém zavedení goniometrických funkcí odvozujeme jejich vlastnosti, přitom výchozí součtové vzorce dokazujeme pomocí trigonometrických výsledků z kapitoly 2. V dalších částech kapitoly 4 se věnujeme řešení goniometrických rovnic, nerovnic a důkazům goniometrických identit. V úplném závěru této kapitoly, stejně jako u kapitol 2 a 3, uvádíme soubory nestandardních příkladů a aplikací, všechny s podrobnými řešeními. Výjimečný charakter má kapitola 5, která podává v encyklopedickém pojetí přehled velkého množství goniometrických identit a nerovností, které splňují vnitřní úhly libovolného trojúhelníku a které jsou postupně odvozovány logicky provázaným způsobem, který jsme v dostupné literatuře nenašli. Závěrečná kapitola 6 je věnována aplikacím goniometrických funkcí. Nejprve se věnujeme substituční metodě při řešení různých úloh z elementární algebry, poté poukazujeme na výhody, které při výpočtech s komplexními čísly přináší jejich zapisování v goniometrickém tvaru a konečně popisujeme význam goniometrických funkcích v základních úlohách z matematické kartografie. Za výkladovými kapitolami následuje krátká část nazvaná Závěr, v níž se snažíme ocenit přínos vytvořeného díla a jeho případné užití. V závěrečném Seznamu použité literatury je uvedeno 50 položek včetně internetových zdrojů.

Abstract:

Corresponding to the presented project, this thesis is devoted to the systematic explanation of the role of trigonometric functions in elementary mathematics. Based on the study of various textbooks and other literature, our explication is done in a compact and connected original form of six expository chapters. Chapter 1 describes the main historical periods of the development of the trigonometric theory. Thus we deal subsequently with the results of the ancient astronomer Claudius Ptolemy, medieval mathematicians of India and Arabia and European mathematicians of Renaissance. This chapter ends with a detailed description of trigonometric achievements of Leonhard Euler, who transformed the theory of trigonometric functions to its current version. In Chapter 2 we deal with trigonometric elements based on similar right-angled triangles. In Chapter 3 we proceed to the trigonometry of general planar triangles. Starting exclusively from the perpendicular projection theorems, we derive Law of Sines, Law of Cosines, Law of Tangents and Mollweide’s formulae and discuss their numerous applications including proofs of angle sum and difference identities in the domain of convex angles. Chapter 4, a pivotal part of the thesis, is devoted to a systematic exposition of the theory of trigonometric functions in the domain of all real numbers. We begin with usual unit-circle definitions to obtain all needed properties including basic useful identities. Proofs of fundamental angle sum formulae are derived from their trigonometric versions discussed earlier. In the remaining parts of Chapter 4 we deal in detail with methods of solving trigonometric equations and their systems, as well as proofs of other numerous identities for trigonometric functions. At the end of Chapters 2, 3 and 4, we present rich collections of nonstandard problems provided with complete solutions. The exceptional Chapter 5 is conceived as an encyclopaedia-like survey of numerous identities and inequalities which are provided by triples of angles of all planar triangles. The proofs of all the stated results are worked out in a unified original fashion. The concluding Chapter 6 deals with some other applications of trigonometric functions. Firstly, we consider efficient trigonometric substitutions in solving various problems in elementary algebra. Then, we discuss the computational relevancy of representing complex numbers in their polar form. Finally, we describe the role of trigonometric functions in mathematical cartography. The expository chapters are followed by a short section named Conclusion, in which we try to evaluate our contribution and beneficial aspects of the thesis. The final Bibliography consists of 50 items including Internet resources.
