Abstract:

Práce se zabývá základními tématy vztahu fyziky a přírodní filosofie (filosofické kosmologie), jako je problém času, místa, změny, prostoru, pohybu nebo determinismu, kauzality a svobodné vůle. Prostor je věnován také méně obvyklým tématům, mezi něž patří paradoxy spojené s nekonečnem a antropický princip. Důraz je přitom kladen na popsání kulturního a historického klimatu, ve kterém vznikaly jednotlivé koncepty řešení nastolených problém. Těžiště jsou idee antických myslitelů (zvláště Aristotela), Newtona, Kanta, Gödela a Barrowa. Systematickým přístupem k jednotlivým tématům se snaží ukázat možnosti spojení fyziky a filosofie jako integrálního zdroje poznání světa okolo nás. Čtenář se seznámí nejen s historickým vývojem, ale také základními otázkami a ideami, které je možné v rámci dané problematiky řešit, často překvapivým a netradičním způsobem.

Abstract:

This work deals with fundamental issues of the relationship between physics and natural philosophy (philosophical cosmology). I particularly deal with the issues of time, place, change, space, movement or determinism, causality, and free will. Less common issues, such as paradoxes connected to infinity and the anthropic principle, are dealt with, as well. Emphasis is placed on the description of the cultural and historical climate where particular concepts emerged. The focus is on the ideas of classical thinkers (especially Aristotle), Newton, Kant, Gödel, and Barrow. The systematic approach to these issues attempts to show opportunities for connections between physics and philosophy as an integral source of knowledge of the world around us. The reader is introduced not only to historical development, but also to basic issues and ideas that are possible to solve in often surprising and unconventional ways.
