Antecedents of management of mission statement meaning and employee mission engagement

Abstract:

Mise představuje významný nástroj pro realizaci strategie jakékoliv organizace. Celá řada studií nabízí nespočet pozitivních aspektů, které mise organizacím přináší. Základním předpokladem její funkčnosti je angažovanost zaměstnanců vůči této misi a jejich aktivní práce s významem mise. Tato disertace nejprve identifikuje antecedenty aktivní práce zaměstnanců s významem mise, kterými jsou propagace budoucnosti organizace ze strany vyššího managementu a vnímané dopady práce ze strany zaměstnanců. Dále vnímaný dopad práce mediuje jednak pozitivní vliv informací, jež se dostávají zaměstnanci ohledně jeho práce, ale také pozitivní vliv propagace budoucnosti organizace ze strany vyššího managementu, na aktivní práci s významem mise organizace. Antecedenty angažovanosti zaměstnanců vůči misi jsou vnímaná shoda osoby s organizací, propagace hodnot a budoucnosti ze strany vyššího managementu a identifikace zaměstnanců s organizací. Analyzovaný vzorek čítal 403 respondentů různě velkých organizací napříč odvětvími, což činí výsledné poznatky zobecnitelné do větší míry než u většiny dosavadních studií.

Abstract:

The mission statement is an important tool for implementing the strategy of any organization. Many studies offer countless positive aspects that the mission brings to organizations. The basic precondition for its functionality is the employee mission engagement and their management of mission statement meaning. This dissertation first identifies the antecedents of the management of mission statement meaning, which are the promotion of organizational future by top management and the perceived impact of work by employees. At the same time, the perceived impact of work in this model mediates the positive influence of the information that employees receive about their work and the promotion of organizational values by senior management on management of mission statement meaning. The antecedents of employee mission engagement are the perceived person-organization fit, the promotion of organizational values and future by top management and the identification of employees with the organization. The analyzed sample consists of 403 respondents of organizations of various sizes across sectors, which makes the findings more generalizable than in most previous studies.
