Development of city centre in a small city in Czechia

Abstract:

Malá města byla dlouhou dobu odborníky relativně opomíjena. To se však začíná měnit. Malá města totiž v sídelním systému nejen Česka hrají důležitou roli. Jejich charakter se odvíjí nejen podle počtu obyvatel, ale také podle jejich umístění v prostoru, socioekonomických charakteristik, historického vývoje a funkcí, které nabízejí. Cílem této bakalářské práce je analyzovat, hodnotit a diskutovat varianty rozvoje centra malého města na příkladu Jablunkova, jehož charakter je dán polohou města periferního regionu v zázemí metropolitního regionu. Je také stále střediskem své spádové oblasti. Hlavní technikou sběru dat bylo terénní šetření studované oblasti. Zjištění tohoto výzkumu budou porovnána se Strategií rozvoje města Jablunkova, přičemž budou navržena opatření pro zlepšení stavu centra.

Abstract:

The small towns have been relatively neglected by scientists for a long time. However, this begins to change. Small towns are playing an important role in the Czech Republic. Their character derives not only by population, but also according to their location in space, the socio-economic characteristics, historical development and functions that they offer. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse, evaluate and discuss the variants of the development of the centre of a small town with example of Jablunkov, whose character is determined by the location of the town of the peripheral region in the hinterland of the metropolitan region, it is also still the centre of its catchment area. The main technique of data collection was a field investigation of the study area. The findings of this research will be compared with the Strategy of development of the town Jablunkov, while the measures will be proposed to improve the condition of the centre.
