Levels of homocysteine in patients after percutaneous coronary intervention

Abstract:

Homocystein je sirná aminokyselina, která je brána jako rizikový faktor kardiovaskulárního onemocnění. V současnosti je také velice často spojována s komplikacemi vzniklými po implantaci koronárního stentu. Cílem této práce bylo stanovení hladin homocysteinu u pacientů po perkutánní koronární intervenci, kdy dochází k implantaci stentu do koronárního řečiště. Pacientům byly implantovány stenty "trvalé" lékové a biodegradabilní. Výsledkem práce je zjištění, že hladina homocysteinu má u biodegradabilních stentů pravděpodobně vliv na výskyt komplikací po implantaci.

Abstract:

Homocysteine is a sulphuric amino acid that is taken as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. It is also very often associated with complications arising after implantation of the coronary stent. The aim of the work was to determine the levels of homocysteine in patients after percutaneous coronary intervention when implanting the stent into the coronary arteries. Drug-elution "permanent" stents and biodegradable were implanted to patients. The result of this work is the finding that the level of homocysteine in biodegradable stents probably affects the occurrence of complications after implantation.
